When applying for ESL jobs from your home country, you may be asked to create an introduction or “intro” video. These videos allow schools to check your English fluency, passion, and personality.

What are intro videos?

Introduction videos are usually short videos where teachers face the camera and explain a little background information about themselves, their skills, and what they’re hoping to achieve. Not all schools will require one, but it’s becoming an increasingly common part of the recruitment process, especially for competitive teaching positions at higher-standard schools,  for online teaching positions.

Non-native speakers are also more frequently asked to provide an introduction video so that the school can review your pronunciation and English fluency.

On the next page, we’re going to look into how you can create a great intro video for yourself.
